Walkways and Patios: Built to Match Your Home and Last for Years

Not all walkways and patios are created equal. With so many styles, patterns, and colors of patio pavers on the market today, it can feel overwhelming to know what’s right for your home. That’s why at Rye Beach Landscaping, we go beyond handing you a brochure or pointing to a display. Our patio design consultant will meet with you at your home and make personalized recommendations based on your space, style, and needs.

We’ve installed thousands of square feet of pavers over the years from a wide range of manufacturers, and we’re not tied to any one brand. That means you get the right paver—not just the one someone’s trying to sell.

Design Opportunities with Modern Pavers

Concrete pavers are incredibly versatile and work well with most home styles—including new construction and colonials. Modern paver colors are designed to complement the tones of traditional New England homes, offering a natural and cohesive look.

Concrete pavers also open the door for creative design details, like paver quilting, banding, or circular patterns that add visual interest to larger patio areas. They’re not just attractive—they’re strong. Many options on the market today have a compressive strength of over 8,000 PSI, which is more than twice that of a poured concrete garage floor. Plus, most leading brands offer lifetime material warranties for added peace of mind.

Classic Looks for Historic Homes

Living and working along the New Hampshire seacoast, we understand the charm and value of historic homes. For properties with classic architecture, we often recommend clay brick or natural stone pavers to preserve the home’s traditional character.

Our passion for preserving the past has led us to rebuild some of Portsmouth’s oldest walkways, including Haymarket Square and Washington Street. While natural stone and antique materials may offer fewer choices in color and pattern, nothing compares to the authenticity and timeless appeal of reclaimed pavers.

A Walkway Is Only as Good as Its Foundation

No matter what paver you choose, proper installation is key to long-term durability—especially in New Hampshire’s changing climate. As ICPI certified paver installers, we know how to build walkways and patios that last.

We carefully evaluate the soil on-site before installation. If the ground is wet or prone to holding water, we install a geo-textile membrane between the subsoil and the gravel base. This prevents contamination and preserves the drainage properties of the base material. That kind of attention to detail makes all the difference.

Because here’s the truth: you only get one chance to do it right—and it’s a lot of work to do it over.
