Landscape Lighting

Landscape Lighting: Art, Science, and a Touch of Magic

There’s a world of landscape design opportunity hiding in plain sight—waiting for nightfall to reveal it. When the sun sets, the dark canvas of night offers incredible potential to create a new world with light. While our eyes perceive just one level of light during the day, Rye Beach Landscaping’s outdoor lighting design uses three distinct layers of light to bring depth, drama, and beauty to your property.

Lighting for Beauty, Safety, and Function

The brighter the light, the darker the shadow it creates. Traditional security lighting often involves mounting a single 300-watt floodlight above a garage or corner of a house—ironically creating shadows perfect for hiding. Instead, we take those same 300 watts and spread them across multiple low-voltage fixtures to create ambient, layered light that is both beautiful and secure.

Ambient lighting is also easier on the eyes. It reduces pupil dilation and creates a more comfortable, inviting atmosphere compared to harsh motion-sensing spotlights.

Light as the Medium, Night as the Canvas

In the hands of a skilled designer, light becomes the paint and night becomes the canvas. We replicate soft moonlight through the trees, highlight textures in stone and bark, and provide subtle path lighting to ensure safe movement. Since daylight always comes from above, uplighting allows us to reverse that norm—creating a completely different and dramatic nighttime perspective. This artistic approach to landscape lighting design is one of our favorite creative challenges.

Durable Materials. Professional Installation.

Outdoor lighting on the New Hampshire seacoast requires materials that can endure salty air and unpredictable weather. That’s why we use only high-quality, solid bronze fixtures—one of the only finishes (along with copper) built to last in coastal conditions. Our certified lighting installers, trained through Cast Lighting, ensure every installation is professionally executed with long-term performance in mind.

Connection failures are the most common issue in lighting systems, so we use weather-tight, properly volted wire connections and include central service hubs for each zone—making maintenance quick and painless.

Energy Efficient

Sustainability matters. Whether we’re running biodiesel in our trucks or offering paperless invoicing, environmental stewardship is core to who we are. That’s why we champion LED landscape lighting technology. LED systems now rival traditional halogen systems in both color quality and brightness—but with far better energy efficiency and durability.

In fact, an average LED lighting system can save up to 80% on your electricity bill compared to halogen alternatives. That’s real savings—and it’s good for the planet too.
